Lyon County Schools Guaranteed Energy Savings Contract

Brief Description

Ascendant Facility Partners worked with Lyon County School’s staff and leadership to develop a comprehensive energy savings strategy to fund a comprehensive facility improvement project by maximizing utility cost savings. This Guaranteed Energy Savings project was driven mostly in part by the need to replace an outdated and unreliable Water Source Heat Pump system at Lyon Elementary School.

To accomplish the desired results, the following Energy Conservation Measures were implemented district wide:

• New Water Source Heat Pump System at the Elementary School
• New LED Interior and Exterior Lighting Upgrades
• Water Conservation Measures
• Kitchen Hood Controls
• Boiler Upgrades
• Upgrades to the existing building automation and control system
• Comprehensive Solar PV Systems
• HVAC System Updates and Refurbishment
• Destratification Fans in high ceiling areas
• Thermal Building Envelope Improvements

Outcomes

• Fixed a long-standing problem with the Elementary school heating and cooling system.
• Improved energy efficiency districtwide.
• Improved the classroom learning environment.
• Reduced the district’s annual utility expenditure by $62,000 per year.
• Did not affect the school’s bonding capacity.
• Utilization of the new IRA Direct-Pay Rebate for Energy Communities
