Carlisle County Schools Guaranteed Energy Savings Contract

Brief Description

This Guaranteed Energy Savings project was driven by the need to replace an old and unreliable air conditioning chiller at the High School Gymnasium. AFP worked with the district’s staff and leadership to
develop a comprehensive energy savings strategy to fund the project out of utility cost savings without the use of capital funds.

In addition to the new HVAC system replacement at the gymnasium, AFP implemented the following Energy Conservation Measures district wide:

• New LED Interior and Exterior Lighting Upgrades
• Upgrades to the existing building automation and control system
• Comprehensive Solar PV Systems
• HVAC System Updates and Refurbishment
• Destratification Fans in high ceiling areas
• Thermal Building Envelope Improvements

Outcomes

• Fixed a long-standing problem with the gymnasium cooling system.
• Improved energy efficiency districtwide.
• Improved the classroom learning environment.
• Reduced the district’s annual utility expenditure by $70,000 per year.
• Did not affect the school’s bonding capacity.
• Utilization of the new IRA Direct-Pay Rebate for Energy Communities
