Out with the old, in with the new! The new black windows that are being installed at Murray Middle School not only look sleek but are also much more efficient than the old silver-framed ones.
Alec Golightly, AFP Performance Engineer, reports that "Energy-efficient window design for schools is crucial not only for saving energy and money but also to enhance the learning environment. The same window properties that affect a school’s heating and cooling needs also affect thermal comfort in the classroom.”

To add - The style and dark bronze color of these windows were matched to the original windows installed in this facility a century ago. This was verified prior to ordering the windows by collaborative investigations which uncovered remnants of the original window frames hidden by the aluminum replacement windows currently installed. So these installations not only provide better energy efficiency and thermal comfort, they help honor the original character of the facility.
